A slipped disc is where the disc in the back does slip a little. The back spine has what are called discs and when one of these comes out of place they call it a slipped disc. They are very painful if they are not put back in.

A slipped disc occurs due to the breaking down of the circle of connective tissue with advancing age. This causes a weakness allowing the soft part to swell.
Slipped discs most often affect the lower back and are relatively rare in the chest part of the spine.

The primary symptoms of a slipped disc are numbness, a tingling sensation of legs and a continuous pain. In most slipped discs, pain is caused when part of the disc starts to press on one of the nerves, which are distributed along the spine.
The main symptoms of a slipped disc are back pain and sciatica.
